Harrow Valley Community College — Course Withdrawal

Students may withdraw from a course after the add/drop period and receive a grade of W, which does not affect GPA but does count toward attempted credits for purposes of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Withdrawal deadlines vary by course length and are published in the Academic Calendar. Students should consult with their academic advisor before withdrawing, as withdrawal may affect enrollment status, eligibility for certain programs, and anticipated graduation date.

Withdrawal requests are submitted through the Student Portal (Registration > Add/Drop/Withdraw) or by submitting a Course Withdrawal Form to the Registrar's Office. International students and students receiving veterans' benefits must obtain additional approvals. Instructor signature is not required but instructor notification is strongly encouraged.

Students receiving federal financial aid should be aware that withdrawing from one or more courses may result in a reduction of aid, and withdrawing from all courses may require a Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) calculation that may create a balance owed to the College. Students are encouraged to meet with a Financial Aid counselor prior to withdrawal. Students who stop attending without officially withdrawing may receive a grade of F.

A withdrawal cannot be reversed once processed. For questions contact the Registrar's Office, Financial Aid Office, or Advising Center.
